COACH kenny gavin

BASKETBALL COACH

Coach Kenny Gavin brings a unique basketball background to 4D Hoops, combining experience around Division I college basketball, USA Basketball, and youth and high school-level player development. His experiences have allowed him to learn in highly competitive environments while developing a passion for helping young athletes improve their skills, confidence, and understanding of the game.

Basketball Background

A Kansas native, Kenny spent two years with the Kansas State University men's and women's basketball programs as a manager and practice player. In that role, he trained and competed alongside Division I athletes through practices, scrimmages, and live-game situations.

His time at Kansas State provided an opportunity to experience firsthand the preparation, competitiveness, and attention to detail required at the Division I level. This included being part of the basketball environment surrounding the 2023 Kansas State men's team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.

Coaching & Player Development

Kenny has coached athletes from 4th through 8th grade and most recently coached at the 15U level with PAC Basketball.

His approach focuses on helping players develop strong fundamentals, improve their basketball IQ, and build confidence through purposeful training and competition. Kenny strives to create a positive but competitive environment where athletes are challenged, held accountable, and encouraged to enjoy the process of getting better.

USA Basketball Experience

Following college, Kenny served as the Men's National Team Operations Intern with USA Basketball. He assisted with preparations for international competition, including training camps leading up to the Olympic Games.

The experience gave Kenny the opportunity to work around some of the top coaches, staff, and players in basketball while gaining valuable insight into the preparation and standards required to compete at the highest level.

Professional Background & Coaching Philosophy

Kenny currently works for IMA Financial Group while continuing to pursue his passion for coaching and developing young athletes.

He believes basketball provides an opportunity to teach lessons that extend beyond the court. His goal is to help athletes become more confident and knowledgeable basketball players while developing the work ethic, competitiveness, accountability, and character that will benefit them throughout their lives.
