Troy’s high school career at Northeast High School was highlighted by impressive statistics, with averages of 19 points per game and 12 rebounds as a 6-foot guard. Known for his athleticism, he led the CNC league in dunks and was notorious for shattering a backboard. Despite his early promise, a shattered wrist and subsequent reconstruction cut short his college playing career. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at Kent State University in Ohio.

Troy has been a pivotal figure behind some of the greatest shooters in Kansas high school basketball. His innovative shooting system and mental training helped his son, Nic Slavin, transform into an elite player at Olathe South. Nic’s senior year was nothing short of spectacular, setting records with four of the five highest single-game scoring performances in school history and earning the Sunflower League Player of the Year title in 2017. Nic’s remarkable stats included 50% field goals, 43% three-pointers, and 90% free throws.

Building on this success, Troy applied his proven system to two other standout shooters over the next six years. The results were extraordinary: 4 state championships, nearly 3000 points scored, 428 three-pointers made, and 2 Sunflower Player of the Year titles. All three players advanced to college basketball, with one leading Division I in three-point percentage at various times and another starting her career at Yale University. All three earned First Team All State honors and set multiple shooting and scoring records at their respective schools.
